Amplifier providing lesser gain than in datasheet
I am using an amplifier MAV-11SM+ from Minicircuits,
I found that the amplifier is providing only a gain of 5.2 dBm instead of 12 dBm.
kindly suggest the reason for this problem.
Also i am using the same configuration three other times in different parts of the circuit and all of them seem to be providing the required gain.
I have checked the coupling capacitors utilized and none of them seem to be damaged.and the biasing conditions of all of them are one and the same.
finally i checked the input and output impedance of the amplifiers and found them to be same.
too much input power -> compression?
What is your freq?
You may have received a faulty part. It is not uncommon. We used this exact same device in a product in the past. Every now and then, when the product failed output level tests it was traced to a faulty MAV11. It happened with about 1 out of 200 devices. We later changed to a different manufacturer. Replace it and see what happens.
Thank you all for the support,
I probed the individual components in the circuit and found that the SPDT switched are providing higher losses than designed,
also i have utilized a GALI-19+ in the output which is providing a 2 dB lesser gain, i improved the required gain bis adjusting the biasing of the GALI-19+ amplifier.
Overall the MAV11 is working fine...
