anyone know it? what's the different target applicatioon? thanks
A Notch filter is a filter that passes all frequencies except those in a stop band centered on a center frequency.
Trap filters are used to filter out only a single frequency.
There may be other usages, but in electrical power engineering the term trap filter designates a series resonant circuit that is placed in parallel to the grid terminals to short respectively absorb specific harmonics. It's removing a single frequency component as a notch filter does, but in a different way.
P.S.: In CATV systems, the term trap filter seems to be interchangeable with notch filter, designating a small bandwidth band stop filter.
