what is band notch characteristic in any antenna

I want to know what is Band Notch characteristic? And how to recognise that it is Band notch Antenna?
In which application band notch characteritic get uses?

I am not familiar with band notch antenna, but I am with band notch filter.
Seems the same function, in case for band selection.
