How to model a slot antenna in HFSS
i want to model a waveguide filled with dielectric with one slot on broad wall of the waveguide (slot antenna) in hfss which supports just TE10 but i don't know how to fill waveguide with dielectric and how to simulate end of the waveguide. when i place pec at the end of waveguide I have reflections.i will send you my hfss file. please help me how to solve this problems. thanks you
The dielectric will be a box made of whatever material you want. You will want a waveport at each end if you don't want reflections. You will need a radiation boundary that is at least lamda/4 away from the outer edges of the waveguide.
There's an example in the HFSS manual of a horn antenna made from waveguide which is flared at the end. If you follow that, but put the waveports on each end, not just one, you should get something like you want.

Hi
I suggest you start with the waveguide alone (2 port problem) and verify the simulations with the theory. Then add the antenna. If you have any problem plz send the file
hello dear
thanks for your answer. here I have designed a slot on broad face of the waveguide using HFSS. I have analyzed the problem parametric where distance from center-line changes from L=0.02to 0.4mm. I want to get '-2s11/(1+s11)' in the output but just a constant line appears in output. pls help me what is the problem? I have uploaded my HFSS design here and I should get a similar answer g(x) in the attached image.
- Slotted Waveguide Antenna
- Slots cut in the center of the broad wall parallel to flow of currents in a waveguide
- Slot length and Width
- Obtaining slot antenna coupling/impedance from simulation.
- longitudinal shunt slot antenna array environment
- Problem with waveguide slot array antenna 23.6 GHz resonance vs 24.1 GHz simulation.
