substrate thickness selection for spiral antenna

i am trying to design a spiral antenna on si substarte i want to know is there any criteria for thickness of sub?also substrte normally effects radiation pattern but dose it also change return loss and how?if anybody have any idea plzzzzzzzzzzzz hel me.
