HF receiver help needed

Hello,

I came across this HF band kit that says hooking up will enable you to receive HF bands ...30m, etc
basically i want to receive 10 MHz signal (which is not in 30m band) but this kit is programmable with software (so its a Software defined radio), this Link shows working etc. my question is can i receive 10 MHz with it by somehow programming the LO?
any help is appreciated..

No, it doesn't use a local oscillator in the way a normal receiver does. This is a SDR with baseband output (like IF in a normal superhet) in the audio range and it requires the power of the PC to decode the I and Q output streams. It will not work without a PC attached. The reference to "Software Defined Radio" does not imply it is just tuned by a command from the computer, it means the actual signal processing is done by the computer.

What do you need your 10MHz receiver to do? it may be possible to suggest a better design if we know what you want to pick up.

Brian.

I'm quoting from the link you posted:

"The bandwidth of the signals either side of the center frequency will be approximately equal to the sampling rate of the PC's sound card. Thus, if the local oscillator is tuned to produce 28.4 MHz to the Quadrature Clock Generators, they will output two signals (I and Q clocks) at 7.1MHz (the "center frequency"). If the PC's sound card has a 48 kHz sampling rate, then the SDR program can translate the QSD's I/Q outputs into a chunk of spectrum that is 24 kHz either side of the center frequency of 7.1 MHz: i.e, 7.076 - 7.124 MHz"

If want to receive 10 MHz you have to replace the 28.4 MHz local oscillator with a 40 MHz oscillator (after :4 you get 10 MHz, +/- 24 kHz).
