Superconductors wanted
i am looking for cheap low critical current Superconductors.
if anyone can help or tell me anything that will help be to order Superconductors, is highly appreciated.
please help.
Hmmmm... Try Eb*y.
Don't forget the liquid helium....
Brian.
i tried but no luck
yep, hard to find! When I was a kid, I wanted to find a 5" long ruby rod to make my own solid state laser...never found that either.
Ruby Rod, wasn't that a character in "The Fifth Element" movie?
I'll have a rummage in my junk box and see if I can find one for you. If there isn't a 5" Ruby, will a 5" Saphire or 5" Diamond do?
Brian.
nope had to be a ruby. you cleave the two ends off for mostly internal reflection, put flashbulbs all around the rod, and flash away! I am assuming the ruby molecule has a metastable energy state that you can excite it to, and as it decays it lases.
And no, Ruby Rod is a famous singer from the future that helps save the planet from certain doom. A different rod
i really need superconductors with low critical very urgently then i might Listen to Ruby
Nauwaf, perhaps if you advertize in your local newspaper there will be someone nearby with second hand ones you can buy. As far as I'm aware superconductors have infinite lifetimes so second hand ones should work as good as new. Make sure thay have been stored cold though, I hear they don't work well, especially in warm climates.
Brian.
If a cable with superconducting behavior is enough, can it be ordered from Nexans. Just tell them what length you need.
Build a real superconducting cable with equipment from EBAY
Yes, these things do not work well in a warm climate, on the other hand, in a cold climate can liquid Nitrogen be omitted.
If liquid Nitrogen is needed, don't get scammed by someone that want to sell expensive tubes, it is just compressed air with Oxygen removed by a simple distillation process.
that's pretty neat, I didnt know that sort of cable existed
Dave
