Crimping Coaxial Connectors - Correct Tool Orientation?

时间:04-05 整理:3721RD 点击:
I purchased a new crimping tool for crimping SMA connectors to RG-174/U cable.
The tool can crimp to various other coaxial connectors (BNC, F, N TNC), and I've noticed that while the slot I use for crimping RG-174/U cable is hexagonal all the way through, the two larger slots are hexagonal most of the way, but at one end they become round.

I'm assuming that one side is for the connector, and one side is for the cable, but which one?! Do I want to crimp the region closest to the connector while leaving the cable end rounded, or vice versa?

Hexagonal Side:

Round Side:

Hi dohzer

The hex side goes towards the cable, the round side therefore goes towards the body of the connector

cheers
Dave

Thanks for that, Davenn.
Any idea for the reason behind that? Is most of the crimp force meant to be on the cable shielding?
