Laser Diode and Photo Detector
In my currently working organization we are going to start product with laser diode and detector.
I want a basic document how laser diode will work and how we have set the light frequency or wavelength. and how photo detector will work. And what is the use of Spectrometer.
Iam searching in net but iam not able to find a correct document for it.
Suggest me how to work on laser diode and detector.
Laser diodes are a frequent topic here. Including how to drive them. Same with photodetectors. There are photodiodes and phototransistors. You can make a plain led into a light detector as well.
See the list of similar threads at the bottom of this column.

Hi,
Your question is very general and seems not to be elaborated
You should provide a datasheet of your device....or at least something similar...
And a draft on what you want to do.
Setting wavelength: I doubt there are "low cost lasers" wich wavelength can be adjusted. And why?
I recommend to read at least a bit of information about laser diodes and then look at some distributor's internet sites and look for laserdiodes. Farnell, digikey, mouser...
..just to get some clue about wavelength, light power, divergence angle, availability, price...

For the basic explanation of laser diode operation see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_diode
The wavelength of a laser is set by an optical resonator. In case of usual laser diodes, the resonator is implemented inside the device as so-called cavity. Means the diodes are manufactured for a single wavelength. If you want a specific wavelength, you'll buy a respective laser diode. Tunable laser diodes are used for special applications and need an external resonator.
