Use limiting amplifier as linear driver for CW sinusoids

Hello,

I am looking for a linear amplifier (linear gain = 20 dB) with operating frequency range of 1 to 11 GHz (or 21 GHz).
As my signals are differential, I would prefere a differential amplifier instead of using two identical (!) single-ended ones.

It seems, so called "limiting amplifiers" can handle this bandwidth with gain values up to 40 dB and differential input/output.
But I need to run it in linear not limiting mode. These ICs are designed for CML common mode logic, rectangular signals.

Do you think one of the following amps can be used for linear amplification of CW sinusoids.

Thank you very much and best regards,

The output v input plots on pages 2 & 3 of the HMC866 datasheet show that it will act as a liniear amplifier. Don't expect it to be a particularly good amplifier as regards linearity, flatness or tempearture stabilty; it has been designed as a limiter.

Thank you, G4BCH.
In fact, in case of the HMC866 flatness and temperature stability are also shown in the datasheet but linearity (spurious output) is not.
The input power levels for linear behaviour are quite low.
I think, we will have to use two single ended amplifiers instead of HMC866.
