Find material for ferrite core
I want to make some ferrite core for microwave experiment, where can I find epoxy or silicone rubber for ferrite core?
From a web article I got the idea to cut up steel wool into tiny slivers, and mix it into a slurry with silicone caulk/ sealant/ adhesive. Available in hardware and automotive stores.
I tried it with short lengths of soda straw. The slurry was about a 50-50 mix. I made a messy job of tamping it into the straw. I wound about a hundred turns of thin wire. The result is 100 or 200 uH.
Ferrites are ferromagnetic oxydes, ferrite cores are sintered like ceramics. In so far I don't see where epoxy or silicone resin comes into play.
You can buy ferrite in just about an shape, size or configuration imaginable.
I cannot imagine why you would want to make your own.
If I want to use epoxy, are there difference for production of ferrite core and Hypermarkets?
