RFID Antenna and Tags

时间:04-04 整理:3721RD 点击:
Hello there,

I am trying to put together an obstacle detection system that detects RFID tags from a minimum distance of 3 m. These tags are to be worn by employees in a warehouse and the reader and antenna are to be mounted on a moving forklift.

I have already purchased SparkFun Simultaneous RFID Reader - M6E Nano (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14066).

What antenna would work best for this application? I am thinking of getting a circular polarized antenna. But they are a bit out of my budget. Will a linear antenna do the work? Again, the read range should be minimum 3 m (so the forklift operator has enough time to stop).

Thanks

the reader can go up to 4.9m. you just need 3m out of it. you have 1.9m to lose.

1) you don't need circular antenna polarized antenna if you know the orientation of your RFID tag. you can align you reader to be on the same direction as your reader if possible.

2) probably you will be fine with the linear polarized antenna as you have 1.9m to lose. your reader is high power (27dBm)

if you looking for the low-cost custom antenna for your application, you can contact me as we are expert in that area. You may face problems due to losses if plug and play antenna impedance doesn't match the Sparkfun board.
