How to conduct this EIRENE test?

Hi, Gurus,

How to conduct the test of one EIRENE case?

Operational radios shall be equipped with rechargeable batteries capable of providing a minimum of eight hours operation over the temperature range -10°C to +55°C from a single charge, based on the following cycle (see section 4.5.21):
− point-to-point calls 20%;
− group calls 60%;
− standby 20%.

Execute following test independently:
Test case 1.Temperature setting with -10°C, execute above test;
Test case 2.Temperature setting with +20°C, execute above test;
Test case 3A.Temperature setting with +55°C, execute above test;

For test case 3A, it seems unresonable, because OPH mobile phone seems can't stand with +55 deg high temperature?
How to condcut the test in +55 deg?
Or should we conduct as following 3B:
Test case 3B: select 8 temperatures, at each temperature, do the one hour test as PTP 20%, groups 60%, standby 20%?

So which is right? 3A or 3B?

i've some familiarity with environmental testing

EIRENE is new to me
what is EIRENE?

what document does (see section 4.5.21) refer to?

you write about operational radios in the first part, and mobile phone batteries in the second
how are these related?

to answer your last question - the test at 55 deg C should be carried out with the battery that goes with the radio
that makes it like a user in the field in the middle of a desert, who won't have a DC supply

...or a radio that has been stored in a hot location, for example in a vehicle and exposed to sunshine for a while.

Brian.

Hi,
This specification has been developed within UIC Project EIRENE. It specifies a digital radio standard for the European railways applicable worldwide. It forms part of the Technical Specification for Interoperability.
The EIRENE Functional Requirements Specification defines the requirements of a radio system satisfying the mobile communications needs of the European railways applicable worldwide. It encompasses ground-train voice and data communications, together with the ground-based mobile communications needs of trackside workers, station and depot staff and railway administrative and managerial personnel.
The EIRENE Functional Requirements Specification defines a set of requirements which a railway radio system should comply with, in order to facilitate international interoperability between national railways and manufacturing economies of scale. This specification therefore defines the functional requirements, to ensure that core railway functionality is provided.

The document is "SoC_EIRENE FRS.xlsx", from a certification institute of Europe.
I wonder in +55 deg, humanbeings can't stand with ONE hour, but the test case requires EIGHT hours, some nonsense, especially for mobile phone.
So DC supply is possible just to verify the circuit performance, not including battery, that is also common in mobile test.
Do you have comments?
Best,
Tony Liu

I found this (at least so far)
https://uic.org/IMG/pdf/eirene_srs_v15.pdf

Page 50 PSA167D006-15 4.5Core environmental requirements

last update 2006
is that the right document?

environmental test is not about where humans survive or not
its about the equipment surviving and being useful, even if the humans are not

Yes, it is the right document.
Thanks, I got it.
Best,
Tony Liu
