Hi,
I am looking to configure a computer that can run HFSS projects with meshs greater than 250,000. Currently, I have a Pentium Dual Core with 3 Gigs of Ram and 160 Gigs of free HD space. However, once my mesh goes over 250,000 the simulation stops and tells me not enough memory...So I think my best bet is to get a 64-bit processor and 8 Gigs of Ram...any other suggestions?
Thank you.

You sholud to use a 64-bit OS such as Linux or Unix. This circumvents the entire memory addressing limitation of a 32-bit OS.
HFSS 10 is compiled to utilize a PC with 3 GB of RAM.
But I need to use a 64-bit processor also, is this right? It seems only AMD has 64 bit processor for consumer use. Anyone with such a configuration? If so how much did it cost you?
Yes, correct. Intel has 64 bit CPU also. You can get Amd Athlon 64 X2 Dual 3800 AM2 for 150 E and PC with a 64 bit CPU and 3G ram for 600E.
contact ANSOFT, they will guide you to the best solution you can have with your budget. i'd call their corporate hq in penn.
