Vote for Maxwell as one of Scotland's top 10 all time.
Hi all,
Further to my message of the 8th November, the BBC website is now accepting votes for ?The people?s choice? of Scotland?s Top 10.
Please go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/histor...te/index.shtml and cast your vote for James Clerk Maxwell.
The results of both the ?Peoples Choice? top 10, and the expert panel?s top 10 will be revealed on a special hour long St Andrew?s Day programme this Thursday at 8.00pm on BBC2 Scotland. Please help to ensure that we get JCM?s name in the list! Please do it NOW as the voting is expected to close on Wednesday, and please encourage all of your friends to add their votes.
All three programmes about the nominees can be found on the website, programme one, which features JCM (4 minutes 40 seconds from the start of the programme) is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/player/?item=4450052
Scotland also produced the famous economists Adam Smith and Maltheus (I think he was Scottish) as well as several leaders in engineering and medicine back around 1700-1800 and some later on. There is also the famous fictional character Dr. Watson, friend of Sherlock Holmes, and their creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
I was going to vote for Johnnie Walker but he was not listed, nor his brothers Black and Blue. So I guess it was Maxwell.
Still time to vote! Today (Wed) is the last day. Be sure to vote by midnight UTC (I think that is 8 PM EST). Thanks to all for your support.
Hi,
seems that the voting is already closed!

Thanks to all who voted. Email from my friend in Scotland with good news...
Hi all,
Despite the ?experts? dismissing James Clerk Maxwell, and repeating that old canard that his most important work was not done in Scotland (and I thought Galloway was in Scotland, but then I?m only an Englishman), ?The Peoples Choice? placed JCM at no. 4!
Let?s raise our glasses to Bruce Borthwick for his excellent advocacy of JCM, and my thanks to all those who voted.
Maybe we can even think about getting JCM properly recognised in the Museum of Scotland, and the National Portrait Gallery now?
And I still dream of that statue in Edinburgh.....
