VSWR in HFSS
now I am trying to get right lolution about VSWR of my antenna... But my VSWR is not good, so bad... Nevertheless, paterns of this antenna are so good... but in reallty this antenna has a really good VSWR and S11...
the antenna doesnt have any ground... it consists of dielectric layer and shaped copper...
I need to understans why it has good patterns and the bad VSWR?
thank you very much for your helps already..
be well..
If you have high VSWR, it does not mean that your radiation pattern would also be different than expected. It only means that your antenna is not getting enough power, most of the power is reflected.
about your design:
1. Port size should be bigger I guess (4h x 5w is the rule of thumb: where h is the height of the substrate and w is the width of the microstrip). Please take a look the the hfss_full_book for more information.
2. I guess it is a travelling wave antenna. It means that your second port practically is a matched load/absorber. when defining lumped port 2, please assign the impedance correctly (depending on the dimension of the microstrip line).
