Attach two different materials

In HFSS I want to "connect" a resistive cylinder to a PerfE box. Unite function will not let me do this. What can I do to make sure HFSS treats these materials as connected but retains their properties?

You don't need to. Just put them side-by-side, making sure there is no small air gap between them.
