Help on antenna simulation
I'd like to simulate the radiated field from a rectangular loop antenna to make sure I obtain an isotropic volume of 30cm^3 somewhere around it.
Any specialist around.
I am thinking to use superNec to do this.
Any experience around??
Help plzzz
Narc_Otic
The frequency operation? plz
dear narc_otic
please give me range frequency which you want design your antenna.
oyu can use HFSS if your range frequency is about GHz.
can a loop be simulated in HFSS at around 400MHz?
I wouldn't use HFSS for that. It is like taking a sledgehammer to pound in a small tack. It might get the job done, but it's very inefficient for this type of problem.
If it's a wire loop, I would recommend a wire MoM code, like NEC or mini-NEC. If it is a planar loop, I'd suggest a planar Moment Method tool, like Momentum, IE3D, or Sonnet/Sonnet Lite (free).

I was playing around with hfss to simulate a loop but its so difficult to get the feed!!
How do i excite the thing? HELP!
thanks

Can you use a lumped port between the end points of the loop? I don't think I've ever tried a lumped port between two ends of a wire.
Perhaps you can convert the wire to a finite body and then connect lumped ports between the open ends. That might lead to even higher simulation requirements, but if HFSS is the only tool you have, then it might be the way to do it.
I would still encourage you to look for a mini-NEC code. I know there is at least one free one at http://www.emsci.com/.
Good luck!

i am learning how to use hfss so i would like to at least try to simulate it. Does anyone have any sample hfss models of simple loops?
It is the excitation that is the most difficult for me
Thanks in advance
