manual ansoft designer sv
i design digital boards, and I would like to know, if what can i use the program use for? Ansoft Designer SV -free student version. I am interested in board-level signal integrity, and power integrity.
-can i draw a model of a split-powerplane pair, and anayze it for impedance vs frequency?
-can I draw a model of a trace or differential pair and alanyze it for signal propagation: reflection waveforms (eye) and S-parameters?
-can I anayze for current return path discontinuities with irregular Gnd plane and a trace?
-what else?
i think I would draw a model of a trace: same width, lenfgth, via-s, and stackup as on the original PCB design.
Is there a manual, or something?
From my experience, you cant use it for time domain simulation, nor for a planar EM analysis where a dense mesh is required ( limited number of elements).
I remember seeing a Designer manual posted here a while ago.
Software is definitely worth playing with!
:D
and what if i use a not-dense mesh? 10*10
and i also can not simulate a DC current in a plane?
for some programs, we can import a complete pcb design. but what if i just want to simulate a simple structure: for exanple i draw one single trace with 2 vias.
From my experience, I think ansoft designer assuming that ground plane is infinite, so you can't make irregular ground plane. Ansoft designer just work in frequency domain. I have some ansoft designer tutorial.
is that software has to anything with Antennas?
