cst inductor
I have aproblem with CST simulation duration time , it is always 24 hours to simulate single strip on Si substrate. anyone has no idea about this problem? and anyone has an example to simulate two layer of dielectric material, or strip line, and sweep ing the parameters?
Awaiting your reply
Dear Helemish,
CST MWS TD solver is not the proper tool for such structure (even CST admits that). Use CST MWS tetrahedral FD solver or HFSS.
Good luck
Hallo wave-maniac
thank you so much for reply, could you tell me why, for which reasons? because I have CST 2008 with License for Transient time solver only?
second question is Can I model the planer spiral inductor by discretization the maxwells equations with FDTD method?
Awaiting your reply
thank you again
Dear Helemish,
As you know, the smaller the minimum cell size, the smaller the "dt". Spiral inductors in ICs are usually very small compared to wavelength. Therefore both CST, which utilizes FIT, and FDTD tools need to use extremely small "dt" for calculating the transient fields for such cases, hence the too lengthy simulations.
One other thing to remember is that when importing GDS files for such structures from other tools like Cadense, normally they have a lot of even tinier features which further enforce smaller "dt".
Another EM tool that might help you is IE3D.
Cheers,
