format of IE3D pattern-files (.pat)
I'm currently using IE3D to analyse the effects of certain changes to an antenna structure. In this process I'm working with a quality factor for the configurations, which is calculated from an integration of the directivity over a certain area. Now, in order to do this I need to read the data from the .pat files I calculate during the simulations, but I have not been able to find any documentation in the manual or on the web on how this information is stored in these files. Does anyone know if any documentation is availible on this subject?
Thus far, I am able to read the angle information and the pattern data at these angles, but I have not been able to figure out exactly what this data represents. My initial assumption was that this data represented E_theta and E_phi but I have not been able to reproduce the patterns I can generate in patternview.
Any help is much appreciated.

Ok, just a quick reply to my own post :).
I have now succeded in extracting the relevant data from the files. It seems that what is stored in the files are the theta and phi electric far-field components for each set of angles (no big surprise there really I guess). Each set of these are stored as magnitude and phase it seems. From these I can reproduce the shape of the patterns that I get from Patternview, but unfortunately mine are approximately 20dB down from the correct values. There must be something amiss in my directivity calculations . Oh well, I'm nearly there now.
