HFSS 3DModeler
I am Newbie to HFSS, but it seems very hard to draw a 3D geometry.
anyone know how to extrude or revolve a 2D object and making a 3D one ?
or is there anyway easier to draw 3D object?
I try to make a .dxf file in AutoCAD and import it to 3DModeler, but only the 2D object apears in the HFSS, and the same for exporting from HFSS to AutoCAD .
Thanks
Hi deepsky,
I recommend you to use of CST MWS.It is very user friendly.
Working with CST is very simple.

If you use HFSS 9, then things are more or less quite same with Microwave Studio's 3D modeler... The concept of 3D drawing is the same.
If you prefer another 3D drawing tool then you must export your geometry to .SAT or any other 3D format... DXF is a planar drawing format. That's why you get only a plane interpretation of your original geometry. Try other formats that HFSS can import ...
mogwai.
It depends on the version you are using. In HFSS v8.5 or v9.x you can sweep a 2D object along a vector...
May be this can help
What is called extrude in MWS in Ansoft is called Sweep. Works similar. At first, it may seem that MWS editor is better, while - up to version I know, 4.3 it is not so. Both editors are not vry impressive in terms of 2D modelling but no one is perfect:)

acctaully MWS has both.
an extrude and rotate for faces to generate a 3D object out of an 2D face.
and
an sweep of an closed curve along another curve.
