Is the S21 linear (in MWS) given in terms of amplitude or intensity (amplitude^2)?
S-parameters in linear format represent the magnitude as defined in:
S_dB = 20.log(S_lin)
mogwai.
Another way of putting it is S21=20log(V2/V1) in terms of voltage amplitudes. If voltage cannot be uniquely defined ( i.e non TEM modes ) you could use field amplitudes or even power ratios whereupon it becomes 10log (.) .
