Loop antenna simulation in IE3D

时间:03-23 整理:3721RD 点击:
Am trying to simulate a PCB loop antenna using IE3D. The loop has an impedance of 4+360j ohms (found through calculation and simulation). When I enter the conjugate of this impedance as the load impedance (term used in IE3D) in the radiation pattern simulation function I get 10dB less antenna gain than in the 50 ohm case.
I would have expected to get higher gain with a conjugate match than with 50 ohm, is there something flawed in my use of IE3D or understanding of antennas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA, Gerry.

Hi, Gerry: I think I replied to you earlier. You might have posted the question here and sent it to me directly. Basically, it is due to the fact that gain defined in IE3D takes into account of the mismatch to the normalization impedance. For conjugate matching, you may expect the gain to be larger than the gain defined on IE3D. Both ways are correct. However, you need to interpret them correctly.

please let meknow, whre i can download IE3D + patching

thx
