slave boundary
I have come across these terms while using HFSS. Can anyone tell me what do these terms imply and how to use them? Thanks in advance.

PML is Perfectly Matched Layer
is a kind of boundary condition alternative to radiation
to be used when you want simulate an open model
(antenna, FSS....)
LBC means Linked Boundaryu Condition and is equivalent to Master and slave
and is used fopr periodic structure but also for simmetric model...
Hope this help

Hi Rugby,
Thanks for your reply. Is it that instead of radiation boundary condition in antenna simulation, we use PML for open structures. If so, then do we have to draw a PML box for assigning such boundary conditions. What will be the size of the box? And for LBC and Master-Slave boundary conditions, how to use it for periodic structures. Please explain more clearly. Others who know about these please share.
Thanks,
Rex
PML should be 1/10 lamda away and radiation boundary should be 1/4 lamda away.hopes it will help you!
Hi Guys!
PML sounds nice isn't it? only λ/10 away... it doesn't add too much space to mesh, etc. Now hear this. Put PML too close to your device and you're in the near field that gets absorbed by the nice and cool PML. And that's how you screw up a simulation. Radiation pattern goes to hell.
