can i use CST to simulate a TV antenna?

Could anybody please tell me, can i use CST to simulate a DTV antenna with the size of about 1/8 wavelength? And about how long will it take to finish the simulation. 3ks a lot

Dear pelican,

yes, you can. What is important is the electrical size of the antenna, i.e. its size with respect to the wavelength. in your case the antenna size is very small compared to the wave length, so it shouldn't take long time. e.g. a 15 cm dipole, on the frequency range 0-10GHz takes around 10 minutes max on P4 with 512 MB RAM.

Best Regards,

Dear Adel_48:
thanks really much for your reply.I've got a clear idea what i can do with CST.
And by the way, if the size of the antenna is twice or triple of the wavelength, can i
still use CST to simulate it? and this time how long will it take me to finish the simulation. 3k u very much.

Sorry for barging in,

In my opinion, there is no problem at all. TV antennas are usually in the UHF/VHF band - I would try to simulate using Megahertz/usec./cm settings. You can also use GHz/nsec./mm setup , but it would probably increase the mesh-cells no. and decrease the timestep - which evetually slows down your simulation.

Good luck,
P.

thank u all! now i've got a clear idea about how to simulate my structrure.

best regards! 3ks again!
