Hi
What are the sommerfeld Integrals that appear in full wave analysis?

regards

Hi, A_ronagh: I tried to post some comment on it and it did not go thru. Here it is again:

Sommerfeld integral is a spectral representation of the Green's function. It was collected in a chapter of the book by Sommerfeld Integral in 1940s. Basically, the Green's function exp(-jkR)/R was expanded into Integral_from_0_to_inf_for_lambda { J0(lambda*rho)*exp(-mu*|z-z'|)*lambda/mu }, where R = sqrt( rho*rho + (z-z')*(z-z')) and mu = sqrt( lambda * lambda - k*k). From it, Sommerfeld derived the Green's function in layered medium based upon similar integrals which can not be solved anlaytically except the special cases of single dielectrics. Any integral equation (MOM) simulator based upon it without serious approximation in solving the Sommerfeld integrals should be considered full wave because they are a precise solution of Maxwell's equations in integral form.
