hi all,
I have a doubt reg. low-k dielectric materilas........
What does 'k' indicates in 'low-k'?.....whether k-stands for dielectric constant or wave number......
Please anyone clarify my doubt......
with regards

Hi, venkatmani:
I don't have much study on it. I think low-k means "Low dielectric K(c)onstant".
Regards.
Yes, low-k dielectrics refers to the relative permittivity (epsR, dielectric constant) of the material being relatively low compared to most microwave circuit materials.

Cuming sells low-k dielectrics (syntactic foams) which have dielectic constant values below 2.0:

people in different field use different terminology/symbol. ε for em engineers means the same thing as k for material engineers.
