INA226 for sensing Motor current
We have some problem need to be clarification in our application. In our Motor current sensing, we use both High side current sensing at Motor forward and Low side current sensing at Motor reverse. I learned INA226 is a Bi-Directional current sensor, is this workable for our application?
Moreover, When the motor starts working(current is about 2A), INA226 is working well. When the motor stalls(current is about 12A), INA226 burns out (we tried to measure the pin impedance of the fail unit , we found both VIN+/VIN- are damaged.
Do you think it will be damaged by over current? or over voltage spike?
Please kindly help on this issue and I am looking forward to having your comment , Thanks.
Hi,there 3mohm is OK for the appliaction。 The IC usually can work to the system。 I think about that there problem is from noise。 As switch, the noise had high Vpick and IC had been over loading for high current。
So, would you like share your PCB or switching wareform for the case?We can find sth by them with your project。
Dear,
This is the layout file below , please let me know your thoughts, Thanks.
What's your motor?DC?BLDC?PM?
Dear
It is DC Motor 12V . Thanks.
Would you like to solder a cap to DC motor input?I think,10nF is OK for the application。As motor's commutator will made high noise, if it work in high current。
I don't know what the commutator' had been surrounded by spark。 If my think is right, you need series an inductance on the motor。
Dear
you mean I have to series an inductance on the motor but where should I place it? what is the inductance value? Thanks.
This is a SCH with you:
