Help with phased array printed dipole

Hi friends, I want to create linear 2 element phased array printed dipole for 2.4 GHz but I can't understand how it would work for dipole. I am planing to used switched line phase shifting. Do I have to vary the path lengths for both the radials of the dipole, as for dipole the phase between both radials is 180 degrees. So if I change the line length for only one radial, the difference will not remain 180. I am using HFSS.
