Help: atmospheric software
can you please guide me about software or tool used to simulate atmospheric attenuation such as wind, rain, fog ....etc.
deeply sincerely
I have a bit of an interest in this, so if you find anything, I'd be interested. I must admit I have not Googled it.
But I've certainly seen research papers on attenuation of rain and similar. I'm sure you will find it any book on propagation of radio waves
I suspect this could be a significant issue at 2.4 GHz, which is the frequency used for microwave oven, and also WiFi. Its clear water absorbs strongly there, but also its a frequency used by a lot of people. I've never looked at it in any detail.
I suspect for something like this, you are probably better just looking at the research an applying it directly to whatever you need it for, rather than trying to rely on someone elses software. By the time you work out how to use it, and whether you can trust it, you can probably do it yourself in less time.

There are some types of software related to atmospheric attenuation. One group relates to how atmospheric attenuation distorts radio transmission and how to overcome it or even use it as an advantage. Here are some of this kind of software: http://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/K1JT/
Calculation of average space attenuation models, due to different types of weather, is complicated as there never will be two identical weathers. Statistical databases are mostly used to predict atmospheric attenuation, and these data have only value for the location were it have been collected. Some general tools for predicting attenuation exist such as: http://mmwconcepts.com/Products.html
HF propagation distortion due to Sun effects can be just as important and have similar effects as rain and fog. A good software for that kind of atmospheric distortion can be found here: http://www.voacap.com/
Statistical weather models are often a part of advanced RF propagation tools. Important if you need to calculate density and optimal placement of base-stations. For this is also good topographic information needed and knowledge of surface consistence from RF view. That type of detailed land information is often very expensive and in many countries kept as a military secret or it have been so in the past. Today can you get very much information by using free information such as google maps. A free software where all these types of circumstances are taken in account is this one: http://www.gl.com/gltools/rfpropagation.php
thank you so much about these information, i am doing a research in details and i am looking for suitable software about my problem
If you go to
http://mmwconcepts.com/Tools.html
it would appear there is a free tool "MMW Atmospheric Attenuation Calculator" at
http://mmwconcepts.com/WebminiAEM.html
but I can't get it to run. You might have more luck than me.
Deborah
tnx Deborah, but this tool mentioned in the comments earlier but it's not free.
heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp me Guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuys
http://mmwconcepts.com/WebminiAEM.html is free web calculator
try a different browser
