Hi,
I'm using R&S FSU spectrum analyzer, I want to get a proper received Envelope and from that i need to calculate the fading statistics. But while taking the measurements i'm getting the image which i have attached with this post.
I'm transmitting a sine wave from signal generator(freq:2.4GHz, level: 0dbm) and receiving it with spectrum analyzer(SA). I kept the SA in zero span mode for time domain measurements. Can anyone please see the image which i have attached and suggest me why i'm getting like this?

Regards,
David scevan

Seems that your signal is not faded. You need a fading emulator placed between your signal generator and the spectrum analyzer.
The faded signal in the time domain should look like this:

Thanks for your reply. Ya i'm expecting an envelope as you had shown. But i'm keeping the rectangular box in between the Tx and Rx, so due to channel in between the Tx and Rx should make the transmitting signal get distorted and it should undergo fade, rite?...In real time, while measuring a channel will they use fading emulator?

Fading is related to motion. One or both of the antennas should be moving, or something in the environment nearby should be moving.

Depending by frequency you use, to get those deeps in the time domain you need not only a motion (of the source, of the receiver, or of both), but also need some reflections from nearby objects, that makes the signal at the receiver input to be in or out of phase with the source.

For instance in the reference you provided in the prior thread on this topic

https://www.edaboard.com/thread250004.html

There are two test cases:
1. Tx is fixed and Rx is moving (on a cart)
2. Tx and Rx are fixed, but people are walking in the hallway

Fading is related to time varying multipath. Your box certainly creates multipath, now you need something that is time varying.
