I love these old school papers! They show you what they did in enough detail for you to do it yourself, or modify to your own needs. Modern papers seem designed to confuse and impress you!

I totally agree. After finishing to read old papers like this, you can start right away to do a project.
Especially in microwave area is impressive how things didn't change too much since then...even publishers (currently) try to complicate unnecessary a lot of things.

It is pretty amazing what they did with a smith chart, a reike diagram, and a slotted line "back in the day"!
