Description of Physical Coding Sublayer

Can anybody help me to get a clarity on PCS layer is all about inn the most generic way possible with respect to ethernet? SerDes that we talk about is it inside the PCS layer? And how does PCS Rx And PCS Tx might differ from each other?

I just tried the tutorial. Was not able to understand it at all.. I am not from that background so I have absolutely no idea about all these things.. Thats why looking for a basic understanding of all the above mentioned terms.. Can you please give me some lead?
