Help me choose a device for wireless data transmisson: Zigbee or CC2500

Hi Friends,

My Requirement is a wireless channel (for data transmission) of almost 800m range. at Line of Sight.

I've two option :

1st is Xbee - Pro : http://www.nex-robotics.com/products...e-antenna.html

2nd is CC2500 (Model 3403) : In this option I've two totally different source to buy the product
1) From (Sunrom Technologies) Rs. 1850/- :http://www.sunrom.com/rf-wireless/rf...face-1km-range

2) From Vega Robokit (without antenna) : Rs. 800/- : http://www.vegarobokit.com/index.php...product_id=595


So I am confuse what is there which makes a difference of Rs.1050/- for the same product.
After viewing the datasheet of CC2500 from sunrom technologies (http://www.sunrom.com/files/3403-datasheet.pdf) I come to know that they are providing an antenna.

So my Que. is out of above 3 option what should I use.Which is better to use for me ? Please Help.
Can I buy CC2500 without antenna(in Rs.800/-) for range 800m (minimum).

Please guide regarding all aspects; I mean regarding the use of the module with ARM7.

Buy the CC2500 from vega for Rs. 800. The antenna and pigtail will not cost more than Rs. 200 (for 5dBi 2.4GHz Rubber Duck Antenna) + Rs. 100 (cable assembly (SMA(F) to UFL / IPEX)) which is required for you to connect from the antenna to your module.
You may send me a PM on this and we can support you on your antenna requirements. (Lambdoid Wireless Communications, Bangalore).

I use XBee PRO and have to describe one particular thing: XBee PRO (868 MHz) chip allows only 10% of time average for transmission. It evaluates its own transmission time over about 20 minutes period and if for this period the total transmission exceeds 10%, it just shut up and that is all. Reboot is required. The power is up to +25 dBm, but this effect appears at 0 dBm also. I work in the way like request (which is shorter) - and the answer (which is longer). And if this cyclic interchange is frequent enough, the answering unit always shuts up in about 20 minutes.
I dont know how about 2.4 GHz modules XBee, may be the same? May be not?
If this mode doesnt suit your requirements pay more attention to CC2500

But I didn't get the above line. Can you please elaborate it please ?

The device with XBee module receives the request over the wireless channel. Then transmits the answer. The transmission of definite bytes of data takes time T, ms. There is a continuous polling - N times in 20 minutes. If N*T exceeds 2 min. (10%) the devices just stops answering over wireless channel. To resume transmission we should set a level on its RST pin or send an AT command. We just trigger the power supply.
The higher the rate of polling the faster it will shut up. And it is not related with TX power, heating of something else.

Do any one have use it? can some one tell me about the range of CC2500 (model3403) ?

I think you can use the CC2500 with 9dBi 2.4GHz Rubber Duck Antenna on both side of the transceivers for good communication result.

Or you can make your onw antenna as this one.

can you tell me how I can use the CC2500 with 9dBi, I mean how I can achieve this spec. & what is the default dB value.
what is the max. range I can get from cc2500 ?
& according to you which is better to use Zigbee or CC2500 ? (I need >=800 m range)

For 9dBi antenna, you have to be sure that the module will support this antenna. Sometimes if the i/p power of the module is less than what is required to drive the 9dBi antenna, it may not be feasible.

You can consider to use this kind of transceiver and use the 9dBi Antenna to ensure the 1 km range communication.
