5ghz wi-fi patch array with 45deg feeding: what are benefits of using 45deg?

I want to know more about this design, why 45deg is used, what thin cutted area at opposide side of patches, and few copper around. Is it for size reduction, for increased bandwidth, or maybe something else? At least i want to know name of such design / feeding...
