Calibration Kits Suggestion

时间:04-05 整理:3721RD 点击:
Hi,

I am looking for calibration kits which cover frequency up to 20 GHz. I have checked at some well known company such as Agilent/ Keysight, Anritsu, R&S, Pasternack. Would like to know is there any other suggestion? I would like to review more before I decide the kits. Hope to have more opinion and suggestion.

Maury Microwave.

What instrument are you calibrating? What transmission line types? What method? Production or Lab usage? What level of accuracy do you need?

Considering E calibration devices for ease and speed?

There is one vendor on your list that I would not touch with a ten foot pole.

Hi,

I am trying to calibrate the VNA for my research use. Currently I need a calibration kit for around 20GHz. So sma coaxial cable is used for the testing. I have k-type cable which is sufficient for 40GHz. Higher frequency calibration kit may be considered too. So let me know if you have come across for the kit. ;)

For stable repeatability, you should consider buy or make the best semi-rigid cables you can afford, or learn how to make them, calibrate pin depth and torque them. This is essential for appreciating the sensitivity of good calibration kits and wide variation of sma performance from distributors like Pasternack. If you use cheap cables and connectors, it wont matter how good your calibration kit is.

Roger that..!

Pasternack is one of the list for sure. I have seen some other brands before but i hardly recall the name. If you have any other calibration kit come across, please feel free to let me know. ;)

most of those companies just buy a maury kit, and re-label it...

SunnySkyguy's comments about wrenches and semi-rigid cables are on target. Heed his warning.

I suspect that you will want to be in 3.5mm and 2.4mm connector territory. I would avoid used kits as there is a high probability of damaged standards. All you have to do is need to buy one or two new standards and any saving yo might have realized will vanish. Avoid adapters if at all practical.

microwaves101 has an interesting discussion of how to trash a cal kit. It makes amusing reading if you have not seen it before.

If the price of the cal kit does not leave you with sticker shock it probably is no good.

I wonder what vendor you would not touch with a barge pole? Does it begin with P and end with K? Of course it does!

Dave
