Hi all,
when we are doing S11 measurement on a agilent's NA, there is always 3 values shown on each of the marker. 1st reading was the real part R, 3rd reading was the imaginary part jx.
what is the middle reading indicate?
hope people here can help to answer my question.
thanks

first reading is the real part, in ohm
second reading is the imaginary part, in ohm
third reading is the imaginary part converted to equivalent component value:
if positive it's an inductor, then L = imag(Z)/(2*pi*f)
if negative it's a capacitor then C = -1/[2*pi*f*imag(Z)]
for instance the first value is: f=806 MHz, real(Z)=11.174 ohm, imag(Z)=14.558 ohm then:
L=14.558/(2*pi*806MHz) = 2.87 nH
yes, as he said. That last column (equivalent lumped reactive component value), unless you are at very low frequencies, is pretty meaningless.
thx! very well explained with example?
