Photodiode and ADC Gain
I am trying to create a project using a photodiode and an ADC. I would like to characterized the ADC Gain by using the different Light Intensity fetch by the Photodiode. Do you have ideas on how to start this? Thanks for your help.
Hi,
A simple ADC has no gain.
But some do have an varaible input gains stage. Are you talking about this?

Generally:
A photodiode usually "generates" some current.
An ADC input usually has an input voltage range.
Therefore you need to transform the current into voltage.
In a simple case this could be done with a resistor.
But maybe you use a TIA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transimpedance_amplifier
In every photodiode datasheet you find how much current you may expect according the light intensity.
In every ADC datasheet you find the information about the input voltage range.
The photodiode current range (plus some headroom) should fit to the ADC input voltage range.
