n pros and cons of dual feed Vs single feed patch antenna for dual pol patch antenna

I have seen antenna model for dual polarization having dual feed. these dual feeds are fed either using two feeds or single feed. is there advantage of using dual feed for dual pol patch antenna?

The dual feed approach is generally less twitchy to design and when fed with a hybrid has greater bandwidth. The downside is that it is often larger. There are many reference books available and the technical literature on the subject is extensive.

Thanks Azulykit
Is there any advantage in terms of beam scanning if we use dual feed ?
Or as you mentioned its about simplicity in design .. Thanks

My thinking goes like this: Dual feeds tend to be larger. You say you want to scan a beam. As a beam scans further element spacing needs to decrease to keep grating lobes suppressed. Neglect this and gain is FUBAR. Lots of assumptions here and I have no way of knowing if they are appropriate for your situation.

The venerable Microwave Engineers' Handbook has interesting charts on the subject. They probably can also be found in R. C. Hansen.

This situation leads to an interesting (e. g. frustrating) trade-off of design characteristics.
