Waveguide simulation without any material or boundary assignment in HFSS

Hi
I've followed a pdf file from HFSS help folder : "Getting Started with HFSS, A Waveguide T-Junction"
There is no material assignment (I mean conductor and not vacuum) or even e.g. PEC Boundary assignment all over the project.
But the simulation works correctly and the results are reasonable!
How does HFSS simulate this configuration as a wave guide and how can we apply this style of drawing in a project while being sure about the validity of the design?
Please help.
Best Regards

HFSS by default interprets the outer boundary of a simulation as PEC (pre-HFSS 17, I believe).
In fact it is same as in CST background in always PEC and the geometry we make is vacuum by default.
So if we define nothing then it takes default settings.
