Hello all, I hope someone can help me with this problem.
Using HFSS, I need to simulate an incident plane wave on an antenna array and measure the voltage at each antenna terminal. Any idea how to do this?
I was able to add a plane wave excitation but then how can I measure the voltage at the antenna terminal? The antenna could be any type, say a dipole.
I hope someone can post a clear solution with steps including
- The design type (whether HFSS design or HFSS-IE)
- Solution type
- etc.
Much appreciated.

To calculate the voltage in HFSS - You need to Integrate the Electric Field along the line.
Below is the procedure:
- Draw a line across the two points
- Then use Field Calculator to write the expression for voltage. You can find the expression for calculating the voltage in HFSS Field Calculator cookbook.

Thanks sv1437. Do I need to use a specific solver (HFSS versus HFSS-IE) to get correct results?
I used HFSS solver and it worked. Thanks sv1437.
