Ansoft Designer needs Optimetrics?

Can designer optimize the EM structure to meet the performance without Optimetrics?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Isn't that now Optimetrics a built in module in Designer?

Greets,
Redi.

Really?That's great!
I will discard hf$$8.

It's true...

Designer contains Optimetrics as a stardard feature.
On the other hand, HFSS 9 has Optimetrics as an addon (charged as an extra feature)...

Hi,

This is quite interesting what you said. I am curious why is that? Are the users of HF$$ more rich then users of Designer? ;)

Greets,
Redi.

Well, I would not stop using HFSS as yet. Despite the fact that you need to purchase Optimetrics extra, HFSS is still much more powerful tool than Designer, in particular for a complex 3D models.
Do not forget that Ensemble which is incorporated in a Designer is primarely a 2.5 D MoM tool, which which could be a problem if you are doing anything else than planar structures.

Hi,

I think that Designer and HF$$ are complementary. Every of them has got features which other doesn't have and they are pointed on different users. For instance in Designer is not only 2.5D solver for layered structures, which is very good for microstrip lines and microstrip antennas. But, there you could also simulate circuits, systems and design filters, which HF$$ doesn't have. I think that MoM solver is quite enough when people designing circuits want to simulate some for instance microstrip parts in their design. On the other HF$$ because of being 3d is more flexible concerning real 3D structures for instance waveguides, antennas etc. So.. when you would use both of this programs you will have it all. There is no point in comparing these two programs, they are just for different problems.

Redi.
