How 2 use AR Filter in C/S/T μwave S/t/u/d/i/o

anyone can advise on how 2 use this feature and what application is it usually used 4?

Hi, Element7k!

Just check button online AR filter. This filter tries to guess the poles of signal and it's used for slowly converting time signals (resonators, patch antennas). It tries to "recover" the rest of reflected signal which takes long time to drop down.
It isn't able to work well in every problem but for one of my patch it saved a lot of time..
Better to play with and see..

Hi Eirp!

Thanks for the tip. I have read that this feature requires the starting point for the AR-filter calculation be at the first maximum after the stimulation has finished? Does the online button register this maximum or does it mean I have to run a simulation, then manually input where the AR-filter should start predicting? I.e. the AR-filter only works after you have done one simulation pass? I guess the later you start the filter the better as the filter has more data to base its prediction on. But what is a good compromise if you don't know where is the first max?

Cheers,

If I remember inside AR filter settings there is parameter "skip time steps" thus you don't need to stop it and rerun. From this skipped steps filter takes informations.
As is usuall in C/S/T, these advanced features aren't much commented in manual.. Try to manipulate with parameters for some your calculated project with known S-par.

Hi EIRP,

I have done some investigation and found that AR filter don't work very well with most of my antenna structures. I keep getting a message saying insufficent time samples for filter determination. Any clues?

For those that works (For me it worked only for Time signals that oscillates), accurate results can only be obtained if the AR-filter is not used for the first full run. Time reduction in only attained in 2nd and subsequent simulation runs. Therefore, I think the "on-line" AR filter does not determine accurately where the filter should start. Also, I observed that the simulation again slows down when I request for farfield monitors!!Did you have similar observation?

Cheers,

yes,I agree with element7k.this feature is not useful as well as vendor blow.you must at least run one whole time simulation let on line AR filter to fill the parameter!
