Multilayered inductors
Have somebody simualted and validated with measurements
Multilayered inductors/transformers in RFICs ?
If so what the best Simulation tool in your opinion ?
Thank you in advance,

I did some comparison in simulating a diplexer using LTCC technology. I used momentum, microwave studio and HFSS. They all produced almost the same result.
Hi,
I also did some LTCC multilayer inductors. HFSS, CST and Sonnet were the programms I used, they all give similar results as wlcsp wrote, but the difference of self-resonance might not be negligable.
It was not possible to give any conclusive rule for overestimating / underestimating self resonance frequency as it was different for different sizes and number of turns (i.e. it wos not possible to state "this program always gives larger self resonance). The difference between programs can be as large as 3GHz! (for low inductance inductor having self resonance somewhere in between 15-18GHz)
The most consistent results compared to measurements were obtained from Sonnet.
I have to say that the 3D programs (CST and HFSS) were not pushed to the limits of their accuracy as the simulation time increase dramatically. Anyway, it seemed to be typical 2.5D problem so the simulator should be chosen accordingly.

Try Momentum. I have found it tobe quite consitent with my measurements.

I think HFSS or Momentum should be the best choices
HFSS
