radiation resistance of dipole antenna
how do i obtain the radiation resistance of my dipole simulation using HFSS??
Thanks
Cheers
If you have non loosy dipole, the rad. resistance is equal to R=Re{Zin}.
For loosy cases you have to calculate the radiation resistance from far field distribution

Hi,
Where to obtain Zin?? Under the "Solution Data" function?
What does the Z matrix represent?
Actually I'm trying to verify my half-wave dipole simulation by checking the radiation resistance= 73 ohm.

Hi,
If your port Characterictics Impedance is Zo, the Zin will be as below:
Zin = Z0*(1+S11)/(1-S11)
this function can be defined simply in Output Varible menu from Trace menu.

Hello
I've calculated your dipole's impedance using CST MWS coz I'm more familiar with it.
The results fit. Theoretical 1st resonance (for inf. thin dipole) should appear at 97.4MHz, predicted by MWS is shown at 90.7MHz (decreased because your dipole is of finite thickness)
Radiation resistance at first resonance is calculated 76.12 Ohm.

the HFSS can calculate the Zin ,please check the post data process carefully
Hi,
I've managed to simulate my Zin plot against Frequency. My radiation boundary is insufficient as ..eirp says
Thank You ..eirp and ..KMPA.
