symmetry plane modelling 2d
2. Does HFSS can solve 2-Dimensional structure?
I ever heard that if a 3-Dimensional structure in HFSS is symmetry, then it can be replaced by a 2-Dimensional plane, but I don't know how to handle such a good skill.
thank you in advance!
BEST REGARDS!
HFSS is mainly a 3d-structure simulator
Its port solver can be used for a 2D surface
in order to calculate modes propagating along an uniform
structure with an arbitrary cross-section.
In any case to strat a simulation a 3D structure must be drawn or imported.

A Symmetry plane is a plane of symmetry exists whenever a structure has geometric and electromagnetic symmetry; that is, the fields in one half of the structure are either identical to or are the mirror image of the fields in the other half of the structure. Symmetry planes can be treated like other structure surfaces and assigned boundary conditions. Taking advantage of symmetry planes can simplify simulations and reduce simulation run times. One thing musn't forget is to enter the appropriate value for the "impedance multiplier" which depend on the number of symmetry planes and the types of symmetry planes.
I attach a two-page powerpoint slides that may give you a bit of help. I would like to help you further, but I have got so much work to do at the moment, this is as much as I could do for the time being.

Dear sassyboy,
You have teach me the method to solve a big 3D model more efficiently by shrinking it to a smaller 3D model(half of the original). but my question is if there are ways to simplify a symmetric 3D model into a 2D model, that is to say, to solve a plane model in place of corresponding 3D model.
thank you very much.

Only if the fileds do not depend on one particular direction, you will have reduction from 3D to 2D model. This happens only when either you have zero thickness in one direction or when it extends to infinity in one direction so that you may not have explicit dependence of fields in that direction (except for say a wave propagating in that direction). Normally I think 3D to 2D reduction is not possible.
