What is the effect of bodies discretization on the electromagnetic interactions?!

Hello! I would like to know the effect of bodies discretization on the electromagnetic interactions?! it well known that its produces more accurate results , but I need to have an explanation with formulas if it is possible or referring some good books where I can find an aswer.
