Step by step design of inductor and transmission line

Hi,I am new to the circuit designing.I would like to know how to design an inductor and transmission line in ADS/SONNET/Cadence.What are the steps involved in the procedure.I heard that one has to carry out EM simulation to find out the parasitics impact after the layouting the indcutor/transmission line.
Could someone provide the whole procedure and relevant information on books to refer and best simulator to use.Thanks
