JOB TITLE: Backplane Specialist

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To provide technical and engineering know-how in support of the development of backplane manufacturing and in more or less equal measure the application and market knowledge necessary for the development of indigenous backplane sales through Sales Offices.

DIMENSIONS & LIMITS OF AUTHORITY:

· Propose backplane engineering and manufacturing improvements.

· Propose Customer specific backplane based projects.

· Submission of Customer specific quotations within predefined guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Professional qualification in Electronics/Electro-mechanical design engineering discipline.

Proficient in both written and spoken English.

EXPERIENCE:

· Extensive experience within either electronic backplane and/or electro mechanical packaging design.

· Preferably 2 years direct sales experience within either of the above-mentioned disciplines.

HIS Engineering 40%

· In conjunction with Materials department, ensure best price multi supplier options re: bill of material costs.

· Up to date awareness of modern engineering and design techniques/best practice.

· Create and regularly review department policies, procedures, work instructions, etc:

· In conjunction with the manufacturing department ensure design for manufacture optimisation.

· Ensure effective, flexible and responsive management of specific major customer programmes.

Backplane based integrated solutions technology monitoring 20%

· Identification and monitoring of new/emerging technologies likely to influence/impact on the development of HIS.

· Participate, where appropriate, in recognised industry standardisation bodies, research organisations etc:

Training and support of Chinese sales resources 20%

Technical and application training.

Where and when appropriate/requested, technical and application support during Customer meetings.

Sales development – in conjunction with Sales organisation. 20%

· Research, analyse and define size and structure of Chinese backplane market.

· Identify potential Customers and develop opportunities for custom backplanes.
